چکیده

Objective: Aim of the present review study was to describe and compare neurocognitive features MCI which could predict its progression DLB vs AD. Background: Progression AD or is a relatively recent field with emphasis on clinical neuropsychological potentially specific types dementia. Methods: A literature in Pubmed database has been made, after year 2005, using key- words: assessment; MCI; AD; DLB; Seventeen relevant articles have found. Results: Data from most studies supports that, MCI, impairment executive, attentional visuospatial functions, as well letter fluency fluctuating concentration are mainly related DLB. In contrast, prominent episodic recognition memory deficits mostly found progresses Furthermore, non-amnestic often DLB, whereas amnestic type AD, although loss may not necessarily development Nevertheless, fewer suggest that MCI-DLB cognitive profile similar MCI-AD, while scoring alone does accurately MCI-AD. Interestingly, quantitative electroencephalogram help predicting preservation hippocampal volume associated increased risk especially MCI. Moreover, patterns neuroimaging contrast Conclusions: Predicting based profiles challenging useful for early therapeutic interventions. More needed, since there some conflicting findings and, at present, combination symptoms assessment ideal method prediction various

How to Distinguish Dementia with Lewy Bodies from Alzheimer Disease?

Dementia with Lewy (DLB) bodies is the most common type of degenerative dementia after Alzheimer Disease (AD). Although an accurate diagnosis of DLB is important for adequate prognosis and therapy, its differentiation from other dementias and, especially, from AD may be extremely challenging for clinicians, as highlighted by the high variability in reported sensitivity (0.22 – 0.83) and specifi...

Quantitative electroencephalogram utility in predicting conversion of mild cognitive impairment to dementia with Lewy bodies☆

Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) as a precursor of dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) is the focus of recent research, trying to explore the early mechanisms and possible biomarkers of DLB. Quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) methods are able to differentiate early DLB from Alzheimer's disease (AD). The aim of the present study was to assess whether QEEG abnormalities, characterized by dominan...

Mild cognitive impairment and progression to dementia of Alzheimer's disease.

The increase in life expectancy in the Brazilian population raises questions about the preparation of the public health system in identifying elderly patients with signs of cognitive impairment. Currently, as a consequence of the long duration of preclinical phase of Alzheimer's disease, efforts of early detection have been emphasized. Clinical dementia presents an important impact on the indiv...

Comparing Cognitive Profiles of Licensed Drivers with Mild Alzheimer's Disease and Mild Dementia with Lewy Bodies

Purpose. Alzheimer's disease (AD) and dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) constitute two of the most common forms of dementia in North America. Driving is a primary means of mobility among older adults and the risk of dementia increases with advanced age. The purpose of this paper is to describe the cognitive profile of licensed drivers with mild AD and mild DLB. Method. Licensed drivers with mild ...
